Galaxier is a major Chinese OEM of reflex red dots, prism scopes, and magnifiers. Galaxier OEMs optics for Burris, Bushnell, EOTech, Primary Arms, Sig Sauer, Sightmark, and Vortex. Galaxier also operates under the name MEFO Optical Instruments.

Disclaimer about OEM information

It is difficult to talk about where "optics are made" because they are complex instruments, often with various components coming from different suppliers. For example, raw glass comes from a handful foundries worldwide. Raw glass blanks must be ground into lenses and coatings applied. Then these lens elements must be assembled into optical subsystems (e.g., objective lens assemblies or eye piece lens assemblies). These steps may be performed by a single company or by a series of companies before being sent for assembly into a finished optic. Even when performed by a single company, these steps may occur in different facilities in multiple countries. A similar series of steps are associated with machined parts like main tubes and turret housings, finishes, etchings, small parts, electronics, reticles, etc. This inherent complexity is why I focus on where the final assembly takes place, as this question has a more definitive answer (although even final assembly can be murky).

OEM information provided here should not be taken with 100% authority. I rely on import/export data (e.g., SKUs in shipping manifests), brand websites, published articles, and forum posts by reputable industry insiders. In a few cases, I make inferences from product similarities or by process of elimination. I provide OEM information, when available, to provide insight into the optic industry supply chain.

About feature descriptions

Here is a quick guide to the feature descriptions in the product listings:

• Auto-bright (illumination brightness can be automatically set to match ambient light conditions), Auto-off (illumination turns off after time-out period to conserve battery), Motion-on (a motion sensor turns on illumination), Low-battery-indicator warns the user it is time to change batteries, NV-modes indicates if the optic has night-vision compatible illumination modes.
• CR2032 is the most common battery type, but other battery types may be listed. 100 hours (medium) indicates 100 hour expected battery life at a medium illumination.
• 4.5in is the length of the optic (rounded to the nearest inch), and 15oz is the weight of the optic (rounded to the nearest ounce). Length and weight values are rounded to make it easier to search the list.
• New 2020 indicates the optic was introduced in 2020. Some new products may not yet have retailers. Discontinued 2020 indicates the optic was discontinued in 2020. Recently discontinued optics may be still available at retailers, often at significant discount.
• Assembled in [country] indicates the country where the scope is assembled, which is more definitive than country of manufacture (components are often sourced from multiple countries). Many brands do not publish the country of origin or assembly for their optics, particularly ones made in China, so sometimes I have had to make educated inferences or rely on secondary sources. For example, Bushnell publishes country of origin for optics made in Japan or South Korea, but simply omits country of origin for many optics, some of which I know are made in China. Therefore, if a Bushnell optic is inexpensive and does not list country of origin, I infer that the optic is made in China.
